Who Can Nominate: Any first responder can be nominated by a peer or citizen in the community. Each year, the Veterans of Foreign Wars selects emergency medical technicians, law enforcement, and firefighter personnel to receive VFW Public Servant Awards.

Nomination Requirements: Criteria for recognition must be justified in a nomination letter that contains a description of consistent excellence in the performance of their duties and consistent dedication to their official responsibilities over a period of years with continuous growth in responsibilities and skills within their profession.
